are now unavailable. with my old system I had to turn off the sat. and use regular antenna to receive the local cbs and nbc stations. Directtv tells me that the new receiver does not accomadate an antenna because it disturbs the hd signal. So now, I've upgraded and have 2 fewer channels than I did. Any suggestions? They also told me that whichever tv I choose may not have the proper ports to accept even a set of rabbitt ears. Beware of upgrading to hd until you check these details out.

  1. Looks like DirectTV wants to lock you up to their programming. The comment "an antenna disrupts the HD signal" is completely ridiculus!!  Dish receivers have antenna inputs and they work just fine!!

By definition, a HDTV must have an RF input for its tuner, so you can connect an off-the-air antenna (or even rabbit ears).

So, nothing to worry, and long-term switch to Dish!
