After using Patchmaster on a area of dead (approx 10'x10')grass from dog urine, he used the same area over the entire winter to pee, the area regrew great but now I have some brown dead spots. Most of the area is still looking good, but a few spots are beginning to die again and I dont know why. There was a time where the grass very thick and moist so I stopped watering for awhile, and we just got over a very hot warm spell for about a week with temps in the high 80's and low 90's could this have killed it? Its not the whole spot and the rest of the lawn is fine, its just a area within the new grass. Im wondering if its because its to thick and the grass has no room to grow? Can grass die if there is to much of it? I have looked in all the books I have and can find anything on this. New grass was growing fine and now is starting to die again. The pet is not urinating in this area anymore. Thanks!

  1. Yep grass can be too thick and choke out - hence the application rates on grass seed bags. this is another reason the patch method that you see on TV is no good. Second is the roots did not develop down deep in the soil and are shallow and fragile and the heat kills is out.

Another reason could be a fungus. When you have hot humid days and nights and have excessive moisture it will build a fungus at this time of year.

Wait until late Sept and Oct to re seed with fescue and you will have better luck

Assuming your grass is fescue that is
