I just used a brush to paint a rail black... now I want to use that brush to stain a fence?

Can I reuse this paint brush with black paint stains on it... I tried to rinse it out as much as I could but there is still some black on it... is it a bad idea to now try to stain a wooden fence with it?

Clean it out  properly and then re use

It depends if the paint is the same (latex or oil base).

For the cost of a new brush? why chance it. You can get some pretty cheap, just make sure it is good to use with your stain. i would just buy a new brush. think of what it would cost you if the brush ruins the stain and the fence. you would then need to buy not only a new brush, but stain and try to remove what is on your fence.

As long as you cleaned the brush and it has dried out it should be just fine, Sometimes the bristles get a little stiff and you need to comb it a few times with a painters wire brush.

Good luck. After the staining of the fence its time to buy a new brush.
