  2. i believe its going to be at least another decade... the work is very intricate and gaudi didnt exactly leave plans...plus i heard they are relying somewhat on donations to fund the project

  3. Years ago everybody will be finish on 2000, now the major said on 2025 aproximately, really? nobody knows the answer!

  4. I visit the Church in December 2005.

In my opinion they need at least 2 decades to complete the building. This is a small period of time if you remember that the majorities of the famous churches around the world requires 2 or 3 centuries to complete them. In this case the reasons for the delay are the lost of information and economical factors. Gaudi prepared a lot of plans and models of the church during the time he spend in the early construction. In effect the master live in the building as a worker and died like a homeless, hit by a tranvia. A great number of the documents were lost during the tragic Spanish civil war. The followers of Gaudi try hard to interpret the ideas. In my opinion another point is that the technology of the early 20 century was a little archaic for the modernism concepts of Gaudi. This is completely true if you see the reinforced concrete works in the towers, the columns and the vaults under construction. The other important reason for the delay was the economical factor. Today the works progress fast because Barcelona is prosperous city, that was not the case for the works during or after the Spanish war.

    I love Barcelona, I'm architect.
