I just want to know how everyone feels about Mars Volta.

They're awesome but you have to have a certain taste to like them.

And if they put out more mainstream stuff they would be boring just like every other band that just tries to sell a bunch of albums instead of putting stuff out that makes them happy. Their music is brilliant and the fact that it's so experimental assures them that the fans they do have aren't fair-weather.

they are very very very talented, but I sometimes wish that they would put out some less experimental stuff.  put more standard straight forward rock...like "the widow" and "l'via"

I don't listen to them much, but Frances the Mute was a good album.
