This was just added to the city of Toronto Website http://www.toronto.ca/ttc/strike2008_faq.html :

"For customers who purchased an April Metropass, Weekly Pass or GTA Pass, credit adjustments will be announced when the strike is over."

All I have to say is that that 'adjustment' best mean we get the May Pass FREE, and if not, at lease %50 off.

  1. I agree with all the against the TTC strike responses here.

And the bottom line  is they DO NOT deserve a raise.

They need to LOWER the wages of these greedy b******s, so the TTC has money to fix up their pathetic systems, and set with timers for when trains and streetcars are estimated to arrive. And you know what? They should give EVERY employee a name tag or number and fire ANYONE who get a complain more than three times. Or an identifiable number on the Streetcar/bus, and actually take customer complains more seriously. At least you can use it to fire some of these greedy rude b******s who arent doing their jobs.

Find a new job if you dont like customer service. I dont see people working in door-to-door or  telemarketing being over paid even though they have to deal with c**p from people everyday.

  2. According to the TTC website the union has rejected the negotiated settlement and as a result there will be no bus, streetcar, subway or Scarborough RT service until further notice.  Limited wheel -trans service will remain for necessary medical appointments such as chemotherapy and dialysis.

My yahoo page is fine but I think they are still working on some adjustments.

  3. Looks like I will be stranded inside on this rainy weekend unless I want to fork over money for a cab.  This sucks...

  4. I don't agree with the answer above the answer above me.

Yea A LOT of people have children and are making 7 bucks an hour and STILL supporting a family. TTC drivers MAY be in danger, but it's a public job. if you can't deal with it, quit. Nobody put a gun to your head and said take this job or else. Dont like it? Find a new job or deal. With my experience its ttc drivers that treat the passengers rudely. shutting the doors when your standing right in front of them and they wave you off (that's happened to me). I'm a girl so I get to hop off wherever after 9. I ask the driver to let me off, guess what, he ignores me. and i know he heard me, he gave me attitude and stopped when i said "right here thanks" wtf did i do? I honestly, no exaggerating, was a quiet passenger. and about the 3/2000 workers dying and me thinking about, try thinking about the millions of children dying of aids? what about the sweatshops? What about the cruelty in animals today? "I think you should consider those." Also I'm not saying one problem is more important than the other with those examples, ttc safety is important, for the drivers AND passengers, but last night they did NOT take that into consideration. But if they feel threatened, they should realize it comes with the job description whether its written or not. It's common sense, you're working for the public, you should be polite and do your job and it will be reciprocated.

  5. Are you sure of this? I thought all was well in T.O?

  6. TTC drivers are a bunch of selfish, greedy and bad-mannered people.  They are already getting paid more than they deserve but it's never enough.  Who the h**l are they? What did they do good? They do a lot of absurd things though---They took out their own irrational frustration on customers regularly by short-turning buses, ignoring customer inquires or giving lazy yes/no answers, abusing passengers verbally, starting buses right away when passengers are two feet away from the bus front doors, going ahead of schedules leaving passengers stranded, stopping their buses for minutes going to Tim Hortons to get their coffee etc etc. What a bunch of selfish scums. What they really deserve is h**l.

  7. Nope, just you. TTC is now an essential service. TTC themselves just signed it with this sudden strike. They deserve all the negative public feedback they're going to get in the next....few days.

"Oh, we deserve 100% pay for when we're injured on the job!" Uh, no, jerkwad, even the cops get 75% for on-the-job injuries...and they're SUPPOSED to be in the line of fire!

"Oh, we don't get paid enough!" Um....almost $23/hour is not enough? Doesn't the majority of you guys have high school diplomas? Do you know how many people working in Timmys and other fast food joints who will KILL for your job? How about the people on welfare? I'm pretty sure they're more than willing to be scabs for $15/hour. h**l, do you know how many new university graduates with degrees want to make $47Gs a year?

    Selfish b******s....

One more: "Oh, other transit in the GTA get paid more than we do!!" You're whining over five cents? How childish are you?

Well, that's alright then, I guess. I was watching CP24 last night and no one knew if Metropass holders are going to get a credit for two lost days; especially the ones who has to work....like where I am right now.

Kade: First, you think it's enough to raise a family working minimum wage? Second, who said anything about high school students? Third, police officers, paramedics, and firefighters has more dangerous jobs. Last I checked, only firefighters get 100% on-the-job injuries and disabilities. Again, police officers get 75%. The starting salary for a Toronto cop is just a little under $40Gs. You do the math. Those workers working right next to the track have safety procedures in place with the train drivers to minimize the risk and make sure accidents doesn't happen. Emergency services have nothing of that sort in place. They run in to help people without knowing what all the risks are. I ask you, why do TTC employees deserve to get paid so much compared to other professions? If they really don't like their contract, Mississauga, Brampton, York and Durham Regions transits' websites are right at their fingertips with "apply here."

  8. I can't believe you asked the same thing I wanted to know

  9. I totally agree with the two answers above mine! Sometime it looks like that they get pleasure in doing it. "Let's see what happens when 1 million don't get to use our buses...that would be so cool" we don't own cars man!

  10. I can't believe they left people stranded at 12 midnight. So at 12 I assume they kicked everyone off (women included) and left them stranded somewhere they don't know.. oh with drunk hooligans because it was a friday night. I'm more angry about the fact that there was NO notification. Some people might say we knew a strike was going to happen, but do we know what exact specific day? I don't effing think so. So they broke their promise about the 48 hours notice. Obviously their going to get irate passengers! We need the effing TTC. I was supposed to work today.. oh and tomorrow. No money for me..who is going to compensate me for the money I lost? What about hospital workers, what if there's some sort of emergency? Guess what, there's no workers to nurse you because they couldn't make it to work. And there's no way I'm paying a 60 dollar cab ride. Ridiculous. I paid 90 bucks (VIP pass) for my pass, and I expect service. I hope the workers get what they want, but they should lose their right to strike (sad to say) after pulling this stunt. I saw a person on TV that lives in scarborough, and he was DOWNTOWN... TTC COULD have at least finished their shifts, take everyone home safely, then go on strike whatever.
