There were 3 red wires, 2 were together.

I assume I have put the wires into the wrong place. Can i play around putting wires into different places until I get it right or is it dangerous?

  1. now go to the next room and wire switch for that room you just done

  2. NO!  Do not just plug wires together randomly!  What if you connect the hot wire directly to the return wire and cause a short?  (Yes, I know, you have fuses or circuit breakers, but their purpose isn't to act as diagnostic tools!)

You need to deduce where each wire goes, and connect them correctly.  If you don't know how to do this, invite someone over who can teach you - preferably an electrician, but failing that any experienced DIYer.

  3. it could be very dangerous

  4. The answer to your question>Your assumption is correct,No & yes I think you are dangerous!

  5. you definitely have wires in wrong , the switch wire should have a colour code on it

  6. Knowing a little bit about electricity my advice to you would be to get some help from someone with more knowledge about electricity. Preferably an licensed electrician!

  7. You need to know which wire is the feed. Mark the wires with a sharpie or colored tape.

You more than likely disconnected the feed to the next room and made the switch operate that.  Reconnect the feed to the next room, and change the switch to the other wire from the feed.

If you get it wrong, it may trip the breaker.
