i just got a call saying i won a cruise!!!!

now..........is this ligitamet???

i guess i entered while filling out some online surveys, which, until now, was a waste of time---they have you register for whatever, and the only result was more spam!!!

so, she asked if i had a credit card---and once i told her i couldnt afford it now--the 490.00$$ for travel to get to fort lauderdale---she said shed call back in january---

SO! should i be stoked or just----think whatever its a scam, and not get too excited???

anyone else won something like this---and it turned out to be a horrible mistake???

please let me know!!

(this would be great if it were true and valid----since the rest of my life fell apart this week-----any hope???)

  1. When he or she calls back ask them what ship, what sailing date, and whats the booking number.  If they can not provide you with a booking number, its not valid!!!  If they give you a booking number, take it down and email me the booking and I will verify if it is legal. 2. why would they need a credit card if you WON the trip> it's a scram!

  3. Some of these are legit, however, some are a scam.  You need to exercise caution.  What you probably won was a reduced vacation package and will have to attend a short seminar on time share spots or something.  I've gotten some of those things in the mail and my husband bought into one a few years ago when with his first wife.  The divorce pretty much took it away from him, but it was a legitimate trip.  Ask lots of questions and get information sent to you to look over before giving out your credit card number.  If it's legitimate and you show sincere interest in it, they will have no problem in providing you the information.  Good luck.

  4. I would feel the same way. But im not sure if i would trust it!? I Probly would not take it.

  5. You should never give your credit card information to someone who calls you asking for it - unless you are expecting the call.

If she calls back in Jan, ask for the name of their company and a number that you can call them back at.  Take that name and phone number and do some research on the Internet about them.  Call them back and see what they are about.  You may even want to call a travel agent to see if they have heard of this company.  Also consider calling the cruise line and seeing if they have any affiliation with this company or if the company is booking seats.  Ask them what information they have on you - if you entered a contest, they should have your name, your address, your e-mail address, etc.  While them confirming this information doens't make them legit, if they can't provide it, it's a big red flag.

It could be one of those things where they give you a cruise in exchange for listening to a pitch and buying an airline ticket through them.  But, you need to check it out further before just handing over your cc info.

  6. This is a scam for you to become a member of their travel company.  When you have won a cruise from a cruise line they give you paperwork and you can book and pay for your cruise when you are ready to go.

  7. OMG THATS SOOOOOOO EXCITING!!

JUST last week, i won an Ipod, a laptop, a trip to europe. i played this online game and i shot the little rubber ducky right on the head. i don't know how they're gonna afford all that. i mean, i gave them my Social, and my adress, they must know who i am.

i just hope they don't like, steal my identity or something. you know these identity thefts are pretty prevalant now a days.

or maybe they can hack into my life or something. how exciting.

  8. If you won the cruise...let them send you the ticket and itinery.  DON'T tell them your credit card info, bank acct. info, your Social Security, NOTHING!  If they still need this info, tell them you'll call the cruise ship company and you'll give your info to them.  There should be some sort of a confirmation number they can give you.  I won an iPod and thought, sure, right, but it did come to my house!  So, there's a chance you won a cruise too.  Who knows...they may make their money by all the extras you'll buy while onboard and tips for their waiters and all.  Sounds okay, but beware though.   You're smart not to have given them any information.  Hang in there and wish you the best.  Sorry to hear your life fell apart this week, but remember time heals.
