i keep finding my baby rabbits out of the nesting box.

Either the mom is taking them out herself or when she goes in to feed them, they don't let go of her tet and fall off when she jumps back over.

they are only 2 days old and can not jump over themselves.

I have already lost one because of this.

  1. I'd say put tin foil or plastic wrapl all around the outside of the cage, excluding the top so at least they get fresh air. Then the mother can't pick them up and out! Then maybe a lamp so light can get in.

    Hope my idea helps!!

  2. I would recommend a nice high sided nesting box.  When our bunny had babies we found one outside and were really concerned it may have missed feedings.  We were given the advice that we should try to hold the mother on her back and let the baby nurse.  Sounded crazy but it actually worked - I'll never forget it - it was sooo cool!  You know how a rabbit kind of goes into a trance when you hold it and put it on it's back - like you would hold a baby with your hand on the back of the head and lean it back slowly - it cannot move!  You can then put the baby on her and help it find the nipple and it will nurse.  It was the coolest thing!  We were so happy that we were able to save that baby.  I cannot think of any way of stopping them of falling out other than high sides that the mother has to jump out which should dislodge any babies still trying to nurse.  Good luck!
