I often receive these from people and it always sounds like a scam. Has anyone ever tried this? If so, what happened? They say that for depositing checks you receive 10%... but it sounds too easy to be true.

  1. This is a very old scam.  Run!

  2. it's a scam.  They ask you to send money for expenses. Like 500 bucks at first then it escalates, $1,000 then $5,000. etc..

They soak you for as much as they can and you never see a dime.

  3. Send it to your spam folder.

  4. It is a very old scam, adapted from the 'Nigerian government letter' scams. Send a copy to your ISP and report it as a fraud attempt. If your in the States, also send it to the US Secret Service Internet Crime division. DO NOT reply in any manner, for doing so tells the scammers it is an active address and they can use it to try and target your system for hacking.

In Canada, report it to the RCMP.
