  1. assuming youre nto making yo the number to be annoying, i think its what happens when a number from skype or some other webstie calls

and im pretty sure it cannot be trascked :(

otherwise youre jsut making up the digits, wyes we all recognzie youre coiutning up

  2. someone is phreaking the caller id. the only way to know who it is, it to have the telco trace it. This means that you have to file a harrassement complaint with your telco.

  3. It could be a skype caller.

When I get calls from a Skype caller, they usually show up as:

    000-012-3456

In my case, the only Skype calls I get are from my brother in the USA (I'm in Canada).  So, I actually put in a contact name in my Panasonic phone called "Skype" and put the phone number as "000-012-3456".  Now, whenever I get a call from Skype and it matches this caller ID, my phone displays that I have a call incoming from Skype.  And, then I usually know it is my brother.

I guess some people like to use Skype for prank or harassing calls because they can hide behind the anonimity of skype because the call cannot be traced or ID'd.

But people who use caller-ID Spoofing services, or have an IP-PBX system may also have their caller-ID's set to 000-012-3456, or 123-456-7890 to just make you think it is from a Skype caller, or just to remain anonymous without blocking their caller-ID.  They know that some people will not accept calls from numbers that Block their caller-ID.

US law, and the FCC, prohibit telemarketers from blocking their caller-ID's.  So, it could possibly be a telemarketer masking their true caller-ID, but that is against the law and if you find out a telemarketer is masking their true number, you can report them to the FCC and they will be prosecuted for doing so.

In the end, if you want to just block these calls, then you can do what I do.  I use the Panasonic DECT 6.0 model KX-TX9333 cordless phone:

    http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d...

It comes with built-in "Call Blocking" and "Night Mode".

Call Blocking allows you to block up to 20 phone numbers you don't want to receive calls from.  They will be sent to a busy signal and then disconnected.

"Night Mode" will prevent your phone from ringing during night time hours while you are in bed sleeping.  Just program in the hours you don't want to be disturbed.

It's about time manufacturers like Panasonic have started building these features right into our telephones.

  4. yeah there are ways but every way there is charges money. I think its like 5 dollars. not sure of the price
