of non payment. i have great credit and paid every single time i went to the doctor. yet, the two times i went they are saying i haven't paid. i have bank records of it even, with their information on it. i have contacted them but they still send me notices.

i have NEVER been in this type of situation before. my credit score is in the 800s. always on time, always paid off.

i don't think i should have to go to the trouble of proving payment. the guys that work at that health care center are friendly and know me very well, and they know i paid.

could they have stole the cash ?? i even have receipts. how do these people think i owe them?

thanks for any advice, i sure appreciate it.

  1. Unfortunately, it's up to us to make absolutely sure no one messes with our credit.  Once it's on your reports, it is a pain to get it off.  You have to go through dispute processes which can take months to resolve.

And you know that once an negative is on your reports, even if it's not your fault, no one will give you a loan until it's gone.

Call the hospital and ask them what they need to prove you paid.

Ask them to prove to you that you in fact owe this amount.

Then, photo copy everything you have that proves you paid and send it to them.

Threaten them with a harassment lawsuit if it continues.

    Be proactive about this.

  2. The doctor's office can bill you if you have not updated your coordination of benefits with your health insurer. There are insurance companies who require their insureds verify with them that they do not have any other insurance that could be billed and paid first. If they contact you and you don't respond within a certain time frame, the insurance company will deny the claim and the doctor's office will bill you. If they are sending you notices and they aren't threatening you with collections, call your insurance company and find out why. If the doctor is contracted with your insurance company he has a legal obligation to accept their payment for services rendered to you. I'd call the insurance company and make sure they aren't requesting additional information from you and then I'd rip the doctor's office staff a new one. :D

  3. Could it be that they are waiting for money from the insurance company?

I would send them one final letter (certified mail/return receipt) and include copies of whatever proof you have that this debt was paid.

In your letter, close it by stating your concern about this going into collections and ruining your credit score.  Inform them that if that happens, you will file a lawsuit for intentionally posting inaccurate info to your report, and they will be held responsible for actual and punitive damages, which could easily exceed $10,000.

Then sit back and watch your credit report.  If it hits, sue them.

Sure, they may be nice.  Maybe it was a silly clerical error.  But you sure don't want an error causing your credit to crash, costing you thousands in the future!  It's up to you to protect your credit.

  4. go in there with the proof that you paid. i had to do that a couple of times, it really burns their azz.

  5. You have to settle it yourself..........suck it up and get it settled.

  6. did  you try calling the health care center and asking them why you got a collections notice.   it happens often that businesses put a bunch of people in collections at once (there is a bit of paperwork involved so its easier to do a bunch at the same time) and they may have accidentally included your info on the form.  Usually if the health center calls their rep at the collection company the matter is resolved instantly.
