I keep getting shocked on everything metal I touch, how can I get rid of the static electricity?

For about two weeks now I've been generating static electricity and everything metal I touch shocks me, in some cases it really hurts.

What is the cause of all this static electricity? How can I get rid of it?

 I had the same problem! Try useing lotion on your hands and (Yes i resorted to this and still do it) i wear plastic/rubber gloves. If not, Drink more fluids. the person that told you NOT to is a complete moron. e   _ e you need fluids to hydrate your body, and when you drink alot of soda's or Juices besides water, You will get shocked by everything metal. My doctor told me I was dehydrated and he gave me some gloves. It last for about 3 weeks before i went to the doctor.
