Question:

I keep having dreams about spiders

Last night I had a dream about a really huge spider, like the size of my head. It was in a web in the middle of the room and I kept trying to avoid bumping into it. It was really scary. I've been having dreams about spiders a lot lately, usually they're more normal sized. Does anyone know what this means?

  1. It probably depends greatly on your feelings about spiders; but your phrasing suggests you are afraid of them.

I'm not sure about the room, but I would assume its a room in your house.  As a rule, houses represent our psyches; the basement is the subconscious and as you get higher in the house you are getting higher in your own psyche.

So what I would guess for this dream is that there is a fear in your mind, represented by the large spider, that is so large that it is inhibiting your actions.

Its a huge fear of yours that cannot be ignored, and makes you feel trapped (the web keeps you trapped).

The fact that you have been having dreams of spiders suggests that you had lots of misgivings about something in your awake life (lots of little spiders that could be ignored but still creepy), but now its become a large fear that can no longer be ignored.

You have to deal with whatever is bothering you.  Its becoming inhibitive, preventing you from doing something that you want to do.  Its making you feel trapped, and you have to deal with it.

  2. Remember, and this is true, dreaming about bugs or spiders is big money!

Small spiders = big amount of money.

Big spiders = small amount of money.

Bugs = Something will happen to you either good or bad, but mostly good ( money related )

  3. One possibility:  your waking subconscious, which becomes your dreaming conscious, is picturing fear and control concerns.

A general symbol of such fear and control is obviously the vampirish robotish bug.

Your scaring dreams perhaps then indicate an underlying fear regarding some control, or lack of personal control, in your life.

  4. Well, I think the web may represent some situation you may be considering getting involved in. As you know, a spider web is very sticky and once you get caught in it, its  hard to free yourself. Is there something in your life you are considering that you are not sure of. If that is the case, I think the spiders and the web especially are your subconscious telling you to stay away from whatever it might be. It may be the spiders are getting bigger because whatever is bothering you, isn't being dealt with.
