Define what an American is to you. Do they love only American food? Do they listen to only American music? Do they trade with foreign countries? Do they boycott all products from China?

Do they have any relatives who originally were from another country?

what is a American to me?

OK Picture this American Flag in the background , GLORY GLORY HALLELUJAH playing on the intercom.

i step up to the podium

    flick my Bic and yell

FREE BIRD, PLAY SOME SKYNARD !!!!!, FFFFRRRREEEEEEEEEEEBBBBBIIIIIRRRRRRDDDD!...

  3. I have never heard that. I don't doubt their Patriotism only their sanity.

  4. The conservatives on here are so hate filled they can't think straight.  pay them no attention.

  5. An American is a person born in or becoming a citizen of the United States of America.  I'm not surprised that a Democrat doesn't know how to use the dictionary.

What's that?  You don't like cheap partisan jabs?

  6. An American is someone who doesn't want his own country to lose a war to another country.

That would be kinda' like rootin' for the Russian hockey team eh.

  7. An American is any person born in USA or naturalized as US citizen period. There is nothing else that qualifies someone to be any more or less of an American all here are equal by birth. Liberals and Cons both love this country and want what they believe is best for the future of this nation.

  8. One of the more sordid, morally bankrupt techniques of political discourse, unfortunately is to attack ones' patriotism if you don't agree with their views, or even to say that you support the enemy if you don't agree with the policies.  A cheap tactic when they don't have a valid argument based on logic or facts.

It's called wrapping yourself up in the flag.  Another description is to call them superpatriots - those who claim to love their country, but hate 84% of the people who live in them.

I like to quote Samuel Johnson whenever this happens - "Patriotism is the last refuse of a scoundrel".

  9. Right wing nut jobs claim nobody but those that believe their hate filled ideas are Americans.  I for one thnk that diversity is our greatest strength

  10. 1. of or pertaining to the United States of America or its inhabitants: an American citizen

    2. a citizen of the United States of America.

Hmm, I don't see anywhere that says just because you love your country and hate to see it corrupt means you are then considered Un-American. Weird, isn't it?  Me, I love this country, and what it ought to stand for. Not for what it has become.  Yes, I am a Rebublican. (er, I was..)
