Question:

I keep hearing that the word "Christian" is being used way too much nowadays?

And that people who claim to be Christian may not truly be Christian. So my question is, how do you know that you're really a Christian? And if you're SURE positively without any doubt, what about the other people? They're just as sure, so what makes you right and them wrong?

Before people may get indignant on me, this is being directed at the intolerant Christians who think that Catholics aren't Christians, or any other Christian who thinks that they're right and everyone else is wrong, etc. etc.

  1.          The word Christian translates to "little Christs" and if they do not walk as Jesus did and do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God then they are false. Once you find out what they believe in then you can fully know if they are actually followers of Christ. Catholics and Christians are very similar, but Catholics believe in something that Christians do not. They believe that Mary is the mother of God, which Christians believe that Mary was the mother of Jesus, and Jesus was God's Son. I don not believe that everyone else I wrong. Many believe that God exists and I agree with them.

I'm sorry if you have gotten a bad impression of Christianity by some ignorant Christian, but we really speak the truth. Those who are sure that their religion is correct are able to tell you exactly what they believe without any hesitation or doubt.

  2. I totally agree with you.

The word Christian should be outlawed. The original concept bears no resemblance to the twisted abominations that we see today.

  3. No true Scotchmen fallacy- it's prevalent in any group, not just religious groups.

  4. Christian by definition means Christ-Like. But it is commonly used by the Christian church to describe those who are a part of it's belief systems. It is kind of misleading.

  5. It doesn't matter what denomination you are from, if you truly love Jesus Christ with all your heart and accept His sacrifice and resurrection then you are a Christian.

Also (I mean this in a very polite way) to anyone who thinks that Catholics aren't Christians, I have known Catholics who do love Jesus and are completely on fire for God. It's all a matter of the heart.

  6. They have a need to feel special to the exclusion of all others.

As evidenced by Chris and others.
