  1. You will need to just mist it with a spray bottle full of water, every few hours.  You can also place plexi glass over half the screen to trap in moisture.

  2. Don't over-think this.

Use a spray bottle to moisten up the cage several times a day, as previously mentioned.

As long as the cage is at an adequate temperature, the water from his bowl should evaporate quickly and provide moisture.

The 42oz. bowl i have for my ball python needs to be completely refilled every two days, and the tank stays around 86 F during the day.

  3. i'm gettin my first snake this comming saturday and i bought some aspen bedding and some kind of "reptile bark" fromt he petstore. it's supposed to retain moisture and help keep humidity high. you can also buy some kind of moss and put in the cage.

  4. go out and by a silicone cake tray. their kinda expensive... maybe about 10 bucks?? the bigger, the better.

go home, fill it with water, and stick it in the freezer.

in the morning, take that giant hunk of ice and put it on top of your encloser, and just.... let it melt. (this only works if you have a screen top... if you have a side opening vivarum, you're just gonna get a puddly mess.)

fill the tray back with water, and refreeze for the next day.

    it'll be just like rain.

ball pythons are pretty hard to hurt by... well, anything, really... as long as the temp in it's cage isn't drastically fluxuating, you just need to adjust the temps in it's cage a bit. the ice will slowly melt and rain down into your snakes cage, and therefore keep the humidity up. (watch out for how fast the water evaporates, you don't want a flood in there)

you don't HAVE to buy a silicone tray, i just find that it's the easiest thing to peel ice out of.

  5. Heat mat and a large water bowl are needed.  Mist the cage daily but don't soak it.  Keep most of the top covered with a piece of plexiglass.  Aim for surface temps of 85F using a digital probe thermometer for accuracy, and 60-70% humidity (use a hygrometer for this).

  6. Heat rocks work really well for warmth, and misting the tank a few times a day. If you use wood chips or mulch-like bedding (or actually any kind of wood product that's alright for reptile use) it will hold the moisture better. You won't need to soak the tank down.Just stick your hand in and feel if it's warm and humid. Also a thermometer will help.

  7. I would suggest although its an expensive option, get some live plants and they will keep your humidity up. Although you will need a UV light, if you dont want to do that then just mist it occasionally.

And avoid what the person above said about heat rocks, there the worst idea, i avoid them like the plague in all my reptiles. Im assuming you've got a heatmat?
