Question:

I keep pulling out my eyelashes...problem?

I know it's weird but I constantly pluck my eyelashes out. Yes, eyeLASHES not eyebrows. I use a tweezer, pick the eyelash, then lay a finger on my eyelid so my eye is closed and and my eyelid cant pull away from my eye, then I pull the eyelash until it comes out...

I dont know why I do it. I had full long eyelashes at one point and nothing was wrong with them (I did have a few ingrown but the eye doctor took care of them). They're still really long just not as full.. haha. Can this be hurting my eyes? Do they grow back?

Everytime I look in the mirror I have to pluck one.. even if its perfectly fine where it is I have to pluck it.. any ideas why I do it? I'm addicted.

  1. I know a few people that do the same exact thing, one girl pulled out her eyelashes, and the other girl pulled out chunks of her hair. I'm no doctor, but I know both of them had a disorder called trichotillomania. It's basically when you have urges to pull out your hair/ lashes and what not. Look it up on google to get more information. Eyelashes do grow back, within about four to eight weeks.

  2. I do the same thing, well sort of. It seems like there is always at least one that is curled the wrong direction or feels weird or something along those lines and I get a hold on it with my fingernails and pull it. My doctor told me its just a sign of anxiety or stress or a nervous habit like any other.  It can't really hurt your eyes other then the tenderness left behind and they will grow back, not as thick but they grow back.

  3. Not if they keep growing back in! ...if not you'll have a very unique look...

  4. you could have a minor case of OCD. its no big deal at all tho. everyone has at least one little thing they "have" to do. lol. yes they will grow back in time, but i would recomend trying to stop because its just a weird habbit haha...i used to do it when i was little so i could make a wish everytime i pulled out an eyelash but i stopped. it could be just a stage ur going thru.
