  1. What really helps is to take a stroking or power class that focuses on basic stroking.  It's one of those skills that can always be improved no matter what level you are, and it will hopefully cure you of the toepick pushes.  It's usually offered as a group class but it's worth it, everyone's sweating and suffering together.

  2. Just keep you weight pushed back wards and away from your toes.

  3. I push off my toe pick a lot too, in my program, or just stroking around the rink. Though I find it easier to do this, it's not good. If you're in a competition, and all of the sudden the judges catch (or hear) a toe pick, they will mark you down for that.

If you are doing your program and you catch yourself do even 1 toe pick just try to stop immediately and really focus on pushing off the edge of your blade. You have to bend your knees and extend your leg. It's not that easy, but it's better than a toe pick.

    Good Luck!

  4. keep you weight pushed back wards and away from your toes.
