Lately, in my apartment of Milwaukee WI I keep finding the same spider. I've killed the same type of spider 4 times now in the last 2 weeks. Given it's indoors during the hot summer and I've killed other spiders too but this one just keeps showing up. Frequently. It's a little smaller than a quarter, reddish orangeish brown, and seems kind of translucent. It also has front fangs with skinny pencil tips that are black. I semi killed one the other day and stuck a bobby pin in between it's fangs to see if it would bite and it totally did! I can't find it anywhere on sites for spider types. Can anyone help to identify this reappearing monster? Is it dangerous?

  1. Lear to ID spiders, here -

  2. No, it's not dangerous.

Wish I could see the "whole" animal to be sure, but I don't think it's a spider at all.

It looks like the head of a Sun Spider, which is not really a spider, but more closely related to Scorpions.  They feed on ground dwelling insects and other very small animals.  They help control the pest populations, like Cockroaches, Crickets, etc.

  3. u killed it?

    =(

    it looks harmless.

    leave it alone.

  4. idk but i would be careful maybe call a pest or vermin control guy?

  5. Well I've found about 6 different kinds of spiders it could be.  Almost all of them weren't poisonous(not harmless, they can still bite). Contact pest control and have them come spray around your baseboards.  If you happen to catch one of those, you can take it to the nearest college and one of the biology or zoology professors would probably identify it for you.
