  1. Several things can lead to this.   You may be swinging too hard.   The ball may be too far forward in your stance.  You are lifting your lead shoulder(Left for RH golfers) - stay down thru the ball.

  2. Well, like the other guy said, many things can lead to this, Swinging too hard and picking up your head are the two primaries.  I've got a word for you to learn.  Try this... TEMPO!!  You need to develope a tempo.  in your mind when you swing say 1..2..3 (at the speed you just read it).  Do not go faster or slower.  So dont make it 1..2............3.  That wont work.  It took me years to realize that you dont have to kill the ball to hit it nicley.  Smooth is the key.  And keep your head down!!  If you play with other people than they will see where the ball goes and tell you!  Anyway try the tempo thing and see how it works.

  3. Most people top the ball because they do not shift their weight forward as they swing. If your weight stays back it is difficult to strike the ball with a descending blow. This could be caused from trying to lift the ball or from the thought that your body is to quick. Strike down on the ball as your weight shifts to your front foot(not the heel) and you will see the topped shots disappear.
