  1. There are few factors which can course you top the ball. Examples, your downward swing is too fast, drop your shoulder too early, ball position is too far left off centre ( Position the ball at centre for 5 & 6 irons, ball at slightly right off centre for 6 & 7 irons then ball at near to right foot for 8,9 & pitching irons.) Slow down your forward swing and keep your head still but chin up. Concentrate on the ball and Do not look up when you strike the ball.

Divot should be created after hit the ball and the divot must be in front of the ball and not behind.

You can also improve your ball striking skill by referring to the link below. Hope this help.

  2. you are trying to kill the ball slow down your swing a little bit

  3. It sounds like you could be dropping your left shoulder on the downswing.  Assuming you are right handed.  I have had the same problem in the past.  You have to keep your swing on the same plane back and through the ball.  Your shoulders should rotate back and forth but not move much up and down.  Just another one of those things you have to practice.

  4. Well there are many things that could cause you to top the ball but the first thing I would think of is for you to make sure you keep your lower body still when you take the club back and make sure you don't sway. In other words, if you are right handed, make sure both knees are comfortably flexed at address and when you take the club back: 1. make sure you keep your right knee flexed and don't let it straiten 2. pretend like someone has a board holding the right side of your hips and don't let your hips move to the right. 3. take the club back LOW AND SLOW. 4. and instead of the idea of "keep your head down", pretend like your head is in a box and you can't move it up or back when you swing. 5. Make sure you play the ball with your higher irons such as your 7 8 and 9 more in the middle of your stance and your lower irons such as your 3 4 and 5 just a little more towards your left heel but still mostly in the middle.    Thats all I have for you, good luck and don't try to think about all these things at once, just figure out which swing thoughts work the best for you.

  5. You should not be aiming behind the ball.  You should be aiming at the ball.  The club should hit the ball then the ground creating a divot.

Also the ball could be in the wrong spot in your stance.  Put it right in the middle for now then play with it.

  6. your  club  face  must   be  open  slow  down  and  you  must  have  reverse  tilt.

  7. first you are provably swinging wat to fast because you wont to hit it far and then you are trying to get to the bottom of the ball so then you a hitting a fat. just try and sweep the ball and take a small divot.

  8. you are coming up on the ball so pretend you are sitting on a chair and you want to stay on the chair until your swing is complete that will keep you from topping the ball

  9. lower body is flying all over the place. swing around your spine. remove tour chin from your chest, this lets left shoulder turn rsather than tilt. keep the dance on the floor not on the golf course . just a swing , limited movement , long distance. keep feet firm . point back to target, smash it.
