i used to have this game

first u need to have money in ur acount then save set the date AND time forward then wait for the leter to arive

Then play the game properly. In the time you spent messing around with that you could have made laods of bells. Why cheat? It just makes the game boring. By the way, DS or DS lite makes no difference, the game is the same.
