ok so i'm going to be a freshman this september & i joined tennis with all my friends. so today was our first tennis practice, and we went on the track to run (the track is huge, btw) and we had to do 3 laps. it was a specific kind of running where we had to bring our knees up to our chest. but anyway after all the laps i wasn't feeling well and i threw up (it was only alittle bit, and nobody saw) and i'm worried that it might happen again tomorrow. do you think it will? and what are ways of preventing that kinda thing? give as much advice as you can!

  1. Throwing up after some strenuous activity is pretty common.  Don't worry about it.  You'll get stronger as a result of all this training and you won't throw up as much in the future.  Relax, you'll be fine.  Training is not really the fun part, but it prepares you for really tough tennis battles later.  Good luck, and just take this in stride.

  2. OK, so what if it happens again tomorrow...welcome to high school sports.  If you get a chance check out the football and soccer fields too, i bet you will find some pukers there as well.  Watch what you eat close to practice workout time (try to gt something in your stomach about 1.5 hours before) and try to stay hydrated, but not to the point of sloshing watter in your tummy.  More then likely your body will acclimate to the new workouts and barfing will not be a season long issue.  When i was in high school...for every sport...we always had a few barfers...no biggie.  No one cared, just don't throw up on anyone and try to move out of the main path of travel.  Good luck and you will be fine...have a great year!!!

  3. No, it probably won't happen again. Don't get nervous. It happens to everyone.

Step 1- When you're running, I'd inhale through your nose twice really quickly and exhale through your mouth once.

Step 2- Keep your arms in front and focus.

Step 3- If you start to feel sick, tell your coach so it never happens. Bring some water along if you can, and try not to have a heavy breakfast in the morning.

  4. Jennifer H is Right.. Do the same.. Good Luck!!
