Well I am started college in a few weeks and decided to dump my aol service and switch to roadrunner standard. It promised to have 7 megabits download and 512 upload. Is this considered to be fast?

I mean should I switch to roadrunner or should I try another highspeed internet for my laptop?

I'm sorry I really don't know about this kind of stuff.

  1. Well, let me tell you.

8 Megabits is not equal to 1 Megabyte.

It is 1024 kilobytes = 1 Megabyte. I'm not sure where you get this info but to tell you, a highspeed internet ranges from 2Mbps up. When having an upload speed of 512kbps, it is much slower. I don't even know what is the good ISP in your area since I live here in Philippines and I don't know much about the providers in your area. Anyway, just take a survey and ask your neighbor what is the good ISP that you can get.

    good luck!

  2. This "Mb" stuff is not the actual internet speed. Its different.

Call the internet service provider, and ask them how much "Mex" of speed is it, they will ask your location and give you the answer.. If they ask your location, they're bull****ing you, btw I recommend At&t.

Good luck. 7 mb is slow too lol. Im at 100mbps..

  3. That is their premium service. There regular service is a little slower.. In north America the average is about 5 Mbits per second.
