I doubt that it's legal, since the 16-year-old is a minor.

It's not so much the legality as the inequality within the relationship that bothers me. I personally don't believe that a 34 and 16 is an acceptable pair. The 34 year old has significantly more life experience and (in theory) is more mature than the 16 year old. He could easily take advantage of the situation to the detriment of the 16 year old.  

I stay away from this pairing. Both should find someone closer to their own age.

If the age of consent is 16, it's probably legal.  That does not make it right or wrong.  

Although who exactly would be taking advantage of whom in this situation?  If neither is being exploited,  or simply used for money or s*x, and they are within the law, it's not for me to judge them.

My partner is 18 years younger than I am, and we got together when he was 24.  A lot depends on the maturity level of the individual.

A 16 y/o is young, but well aware of what he is doing. Obviously the older guy is not imposing himself therefore I don't see why so many people would object to it. What if he's a sugar daddy? It actually should not be anyone's concern, but theirs.

Well I really couldn't say that it was wrong since you said it was legal.I mean if it's legal there nothing wrong with it but,to other it may seem wrong because of there laws.I would think it's a little obscene but,if it's legal and I were used to the law it wouldn't bother me.

I agree with everyone on this page, even Louis. While by my standards, I think it is morally wrong, but if it is legal in his state, that choice is up to him. I think that the parents need to be notified, although it sounds like they cannot do anything. But I am almost in the same boat. I like someone who is twice my age, but I am also 25. I think that 16 is a bit young, but he is within legal actions in his state. Good question.

I dunno about Michigan but in PA that would be illegal. The age of consent of 16, meaning you can legally have s*x with someone up to four years older than you. So if he's 16 the oldest he could have s*x with is 20, so it would be illegal for the guy to be 34.

16 maybe legal, but it sure does not meet my social standards. If I read the question details correctly, the relationship is g*y, but that makes no difference in Michigan.

Uhh I'm going to get thumbs down for saying this but... the boy is old enough to know what he is doing, He prolly likes older men because they are more mature than boys his age( I feel the same way and I am 16 too).
