  1. Reeveytown was settled by the Reevey's and Richardson families in 1882. The first pastor was Rev. J.P. Thompson. The first funeral was that of Emiline Richardson, March 3, 1890, at the age of seventy years young. The first wedding was Miss. Georgina Reevey to Mr. DuBoise. the first Sunday School Superintendent was Hannah Richardson. According to tradition, one of the early settlers of the area was Issac Reevey Richardson, a Cherokee Indian Chief who migrated from North Carolina. The town's name originated from

    the large families of Reeveys.

    The main body of Lenape and Cherokee Indians established a town known as Reeveytown in Monmouth County, NJ. After centuries of intermarrying, the Lenape and Cherokee came to be known as the Sand Hill Band of Indians. Today, certain segments of the Tribe maintain a distinct Cherokee identity, while others are solely Lenape.

    Isaac R. Richardson,was born in 1818 in Monmouth County, NJ. He was the youngest of 12 children born to Joseph and Rebecca Richardson, Cherokee Indians who migrated from the southern Cherokee Territory.

    Isaac married Elizabeth Susan Revey, a Lenape Indian. Together they had 8 children. Isaac maintained an account book of his daily activities, work and life events. He was known for his expertise in carpentry and masonry and together with his brothers, sons, cousins and nephews built houses, fences, barns, schools, and churches for local people throughout various towns in Monmouth County, NJ.
