  1. Lexapro® (escitalopram oxalate) is an orally administered selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI).

Serotonin somehow controls the orgasmic process.  When the serotonin is blocked from being absorbed back into the synapses in the brain, you are not able fulfill that cycle.

My suggestion?  Throw that stuff as far away from you that you can and go natural with your doctoring.  The increase in your sexual desire is your body's response to not reabsorbing the seratonin and it thinks it has to produce more.

  2. If you're only taking 10mg, then you have probably only just started taking them as the dosage is usually increased soon after you start taking it. I think that these symptoms will occur after you have been on them for a while, or the dosage is increased. I do hope I am wrong in your case. It happened to me, now I'm on cymbalta plus pain meds, so my drive went ages ago. :(  Good luck to you.

  3. Yep, since getting on Lexapro 20mg I have to work harder to reach o****m.  I started on 10mg.  I've noticed a change in my sexual desire, but I'm not gonna get into that here...lol...The only thing I can suggest "to get there faster" is to experiment by yourself, search the Internet, visit the bookstore.  Hopefully the women here can offer you some tips.  Good luck!

    Edit:

Oh yeah, good idea - go to an adult novelty store & check out the s*x toys, etc.

  4. I had a lot of trouble with Lexapro too.  It is a known side effect of an otherwise good medication.  :(

My hubby and I had to take ALOT more time building up and stimulating me to achieve o****m.  I could feel so close but just could not reach that edge.  In the long run, it was just too frustrating for me to continue the medication.  I felt like it was adding a new symptom to my anxiety problems.

  5. On Lexapro I couldn't have an o****m at all.  You may want it more because it is harder to get satisfied.

  6. Different bodies react differently to medications -- especiall if you're female. Female o****m is one of the least studied phenomena in the medical community, and doctors may still not know all of the potential sexual effects. If you only symptom is delayed o****m -- without pain or any other negative effects -- then you're doing fine. Delayed climax is very common on medications. But...if you were wondering about switcing at all -- then consider Wellbutrin, which has no sexual side effects. Good Luck

  7. I take effexor xr 75 mg.  I have the SAME problem....always ready but cant quite get there!!!  Dont know why.
