  1. "Toxoplasmosis is an infectious disease caused by a single-celled parasite called Toxoplasma gondii. Toxoplasmosis can occur in both cats and dogs. This disease is zoonotic, which means it is transmissible to humans, and pregnant women especially must be careful."

I would not pick up after dogs or cats to be safe or wear rubber gloves.

  2. Pretty sure the dog p**p is safe.

The animals intestinal tract works differently and they digest their foods differently. Besides, dogs eat different things than cats. What youre watching out for is the toxoplasmosis worm. Im pretty sure it doesnt affect dogs.

    Youre okay. =)

  3. As long as your not coming into direct contact, like actually touching it, you should be fine.

And of course wash your hands after ... which you probably do anyway :)

  4. cleaning up dog poo is ok. and the only way cat p**p is dangerous is if you are eating it (or not washing your hands after changing/cleaning it) i changed my cats litter all throughout my pregnancy

  5. lol I cleaned up dog p**p ONCE while pregnant and I threw up all the orange juice I drank that morning. Aww memories. Yeah the harm is the cat poo only ... toxoplasmosis is only from cats (as far as I know)

  6. I haven't heard anything about dog p**p... I think it's different because when you're cleaning a cat box, you're also stirring up a bunch of dust and particles that can contain the toxins, whereas dog p**p, your just picking up a t**d and tossing it.  Just make sure your hand is protected.  (even though I know you're not picking it up with your bare hands!)  Maybe even get a little shovel or something...

  7. i do not think that it is the same with dog p**p the doctor never said anything to me about it so i think that you are fine i would not worry

  8. I have an indoor cat and two indoor dogs.  While preggers (both times) I had my DH do the kitty box even though it was self cleaning.  When he was out and I HAD to do it, I held my breath and washed up to my elbows when I was done.

For dog poo, as far as I know they don't carry toxoplasmosis, so you don't have that to worry about.  I would carry hand sanitizer for the moment after picking up the poo, then just made sure I washed really well when I got home.  I also would not touch my face and would be very careful of what I DID touch before I got home to wash up.
