So I recently read a book about how eating veggies and fruit that has to be transported across the country increase the size of my carbon footprint and in the end add to the horrible monster that is global warming and dependence on foreign oil. What about the other house hold products that I use? Cleaning products? My computer? Etc.

  1. not necessarily we have lots of local potatoes and apples that are packaged and sold in our local grocery store from the farms about 5 miles away look on the packaging from were it was grown always best to buy Canadian grown products they have travelled the lesser distance(if your Canadian)Buy the localist materials in anything the father away if came from the larger the foot print

  2. everything that is not produced in your home town has to be shipped to you

  3. Buying local in every way possible is a great way to decrease your carbon footprint. Unfortunately, with household products and computers, it's hard to do that. With those, I'd just say that you should try and recycle them as best you can. There are places that recycle electronics that you might want to look into, and maybe you could look into using more natural products

    instead of synthesized cleansers, etc.

Also, reducing your energy usage (electricity, gas) is a great way to do it. Turn off your computer when you don't use it, as well as everything else.

  4. You're worried about your carbon footprint!? Get a girlfriend!

There is nothing you can do to reduce global warming! Nothing! It's not caused by pollution; it's caused by the normal cyclic changes in the heat output from the sun. Anyone who told you otherwise is lying to you.

You need to review NASA's web site, compare the surface temperature of the planets over the last 20 years with the solar cycle and you'll understand this global warming is a natural cycle of our solar system. The NASA data shows ALL of the planets are warming in direct relationship to their distance from the sun (except for Jupiter which is even warmer due to it's own internal heat).

The sun's heat output cycle has been measured by NASA for some years now. The Mission to Planet Earth has focused a lot of satellite time on Earth and has measured no meaningful changes. Well, NOAH has confirmed the ice caps are now 25% larger than they were 10 years ago in a report they released last week. We don't know why. Doesn't seem to have any effect on the ecosphere we can measure. All that stuff you read about greenhouse gas, pollution, cow farts, "green" light bulbs - not one scientific report to support any of it. Just a bunch of political nonsense to scare you into "going green" How much money has Gore made on this!? Millions.

  5. You know what they say about the size of your carbon footprint...
