I know colleges have a study abroad program but do they have some kind of help abroad program?

Where you go for three months during the summer and work in a third world country building houses, teaching, etc...something like peace corps but for a shorter time? thanks

  1. Habitat for Humanity has gone overseas a time or two.  My friends went with them.  As for specific programs and whatnot, you'd probably have to speak with the volunteer coordinator at your particular university.


  2. You don't have to go through a college to do a volunteer abroad stint. There are a huge amount of programs out there that accept volunteers from anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months or longer.     Be advised that most, if not all overseas volunteer programs charge a fee to place you. These fees vary from program to program. They usually cover room and board, excursions, and the support services of a program in your host country. Usually, these fees are the main source of income for non-profits who accept international volunteers -- they help pay the staff salaries, administration costs and other overhead.

    I really advise you to do this as it will change your life forever! Trust me, you will get more out of it that you will ever think. Do it if you can.
