  1. I'm impressed that you "know all the chords" beause I have been playing professionally for over 50 YEARS and even I don't know all the chords... I don't think you know just how many chords that is.

You need to learn how to read music if you ever hope to be GOOD at playing the guitar and you need to learn some music theory if you ever hope to understand chords and how they are formed.

HIRE A TEACHER for at least a few lessons.. it will save you later.  And DON'T bother with those TABS... at your level, it's just as easy for you to learn REAL music as just using TABS... and you won't have to try to find someone to transcribe music for you in the future.

  2. First of all don't believe what anyone says about tabs. Tabs are an awesome and quick way to learn guitar the only advantage that music notation has on it is that it shows the rhythm of the music but if you heard the song before then tabs is the way to go. Now You don't know all the chords you know most of the major chords but your missing sharp and flat chords and you stil got minor, augmented, and dimished and probably many more to go. If you plan to be a more rhythm guitarist then stick with chords(i still suggest you learn your scales though) but if you plan to be a lead guitarist scales, modes and appregios are the way to go. Now to read and play songs learn tabs defineitly look up the tabs at www.ultimate-guitar.com I'm also going to suggest you download power tab editor it plays the tab for you and has a built in chord book its free of charge at CNET and its not a virus

Hope that help feel free to contact me i you have more questions

  3. Hi Danny,

Check out this site for guitar chords.

    http://www.chordc.com/pg/chords.php

You will also find well laid out song tabs there too...

  4. I don't play the guitar yet, but I'm going to learn using this website.

    http://guitar.about.com/

    Hope this helps!

  5. I am 69 years old and and been playing guitar for the last 55 years and I have never herd of a CAGED chord.  Get yourself a book of songs you know that has the chord changes for the songs and learn to play rhythm.  You need to learn chord changes and progression.   Don't tell me you know all the chords on the guitar,  as long as I been playing I am still learning chords.

  6. Well your in luck because most guitarist only know how to play tabs. That can get you far but so will chords. Most songs are only 3 to 5 chords. (well unless your playing a song from like the 80's) Current music is just about 3 chords. And are you sure you learned all the chords? Because they're are over 25000. I do not recommend learning all of them. I don't know any guitar player on record who has. To actually play all music you need to know the 12major chords

    12 minor chords

    12 7th chords

    12 Minor 7th chords

    12 Major 7th chords

And thats all. After that you can play almost any song you hear.
