I just learned how to snowboard last season, and I know the basics, switching stances, balancing, getting down the mountain..

Any tricks for beginners?

How to go off jumps?

  1. We snowboard in July here in Whistler!!! YEAH BABY!

  2. Try going over a jump and slowly getting air. Each time get a little more. Find the ways you feel comfortable with.

Toe or heal when your jumping, its up to you.

Once you get enough air you can try tailgrabs.

    Then gradually go from there.

  3. These are some tips that I've written for students that already know the basics:

    Advanced riding hints:

    ----------------------

You've already learned the hardest part. Now you only need to master the skill of putting more pressure on your edge in the turn which will mean less skidded turns and more carved turns.

A carving clinic is what really changed the way I rode and allowed me to start riding steeper terrain and making faster, shallow turns. They made us reach down and touch the board in every turn on the blue/intermediate runs which forces you to use more pressure on the edge. You then start riding the arc'd edge through the turns instead of slipping your board.

    Jumps:

    ---------

Get your body centered above the board before you hit the jump. If there is a curved lip at the top of the jump, get your weight a little forward as the lip will throw you back a little and you don't want to land on your back. Start with slower speeds and work up to faster passes on the same jump getting more height with each try and getting a feel for where your weight should be when you hit the bottom of the jump.

    Spins:

    ------

You should rotate your board so that the tail of the board is rotating toward the fall line (down the hill) when you first launch into your spin - this will always give you maximum time to complete your rotations.

If you are going off a park jump and already pointed straight down the hill it is usually easier to rotate the direction you are facing.

    Good Luck

  4. well start small then build up

jumps just make sure you have a good amount of speed (usually a little more than you think) then approach the jump make sure your in control and then pop off your tail at the top and i usually like being a little on the toe edge

firsty just learn basic airs and grabs then start adding in some spins

also learn just some fun buttery flat land tricks, riding switch, oh and jibs of course
