ok just to warn you before reading this its going to be long and dont critisize me k and im not an animal abuser. my 6 year old spayed cat had her shots when she was a kitten but then we went short on money so we didnt really bring our cat to the vet until now. i feel very horrible about it and im saving money right now to bring her myself because my parents wont bring her for some reason. i found a stray kitten and was close to dying so i brought him in and now my older cat is jealous so now she is outside all the time and only inside to eat, i try to keep her inside but she always slips outside whenever someone opens the door. i wasted all my hard work and money on the kitten but now my older cat is food aggression, shes very very veryyy mad at me for bringing in another cat and she feels abandoned. i love both my cats sooooo much but now i have to start over and save twice as much money for both of them. im kind of in a pickle now because i need money badly for my older cat and badly for the kitten because the older the cat is the more care she needs and also the more young a kitten is the more care he needs too. so now what?! i need help when i finally get enough money for my older cat and i finally get her to the vet the bills will be very high and when i finally get there its going to be a lot of questions and needls and did i mention vet bills??!!! so now i need to know how to save a lot of money for the sake of my older cat and stray kitten, what shots my older cat needs when she finally gets there and how much it will cost, how to get my older cat to gain my trust back, how to get my older cat to come inside so i can bring her to the vet and how to teach her to stay inside?? im sorry its a lot of questions but i am a true cat lover but right now i need help and I AM NOT ABUSING MY CAT I LOVE HER AND RISKING EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW FOR HER HEALTH AND NOW I HAVE ANOTHER KITTEN ITS TWICE AS HARD I WOULD RISK MY LIFE FOR THEM!!!!! help please! for my cats sake!

  1. First of all, your vet bills will be much much lower if you keep your cats inside.  It may be tough, but you're the adult and they are the pets, so you need to be tougher.  Outdoors they will be exposed to parasites, fleas, ticks, injuries, diseases - all of those require money for vets.

First your adult cat - yes, she needs to be brought up to date on her shots.  Many of the chain pet stores offer shot clinics, and they are available at discount prices.  One near me is offering rabies and distemper vaccines at $12 each.  Some shelters offer them too.  Make some phone calls, and see what's available in your area.

Same thing for your kitten.  He needs his shots, too.  And of course he needs to be neutered.  Again, call your local shelters to see what low-cost services they have.  You *must* get your kitten neutered before he's about  month old or so or he will spray when he 'comes of age' and that will not be pleasant.

Spend extra time with your adult cat, and a bit less time with the kitten.  This should lessen the jealousy she feels.

  2. Hi I can see where you are coming from. Vet bills are very high. I think a cat needs a yearly shot. Look but (I am risking people saying that I am an abuser, too) if she was healthy why now? Just deworm and deflea your cat and try to keep her inside at night. Meanwhile when your kitten is healthy and cute enough why don't you give away to someone who is caring?

You have a life to live as well, besides your older cat does not take the kitten very well and this will risk your older cats behaviour therefore more risk to your finance. Look I can see that you are caring but sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. Good luck with everything!!!

  3. Sorry, but I have to be critical. Why oh why do people take in animals they cannot afford to care for? What vet bills?  Are they sick? How old are you?  Get a job.
