I've had him for about 3 weeks.

His pictures dont really do him justice, hes not very photogenic you see. its somewhat unfortunate.

Also he looks very short in the pictures, while he is actually very tall: 17.1 and yes, he actually IS 17.1 unlike some people very rudly said before. he just looks very short in his pictures, because he is long.

Honest opinions please.

hes not pigeon toed or cow hocked, the pictures may make him seem that way.

also, im sorry for the size of the photos they are kind of small.

  1. Your horse looks very nice. I like that type of colouring, the brown body with the white streak down the front of the head. You must be proud of him.

  2. OM Goodness!  I am so jealous !!  He is beautiful and just the coloring I would pick -- you are so lucky !!

I really do mean this all - not trying to "butter you up" to get the 10 points.  Your horse is a mix between two horse shows I used to watch when I was a young girl :  FLICKA and FURY.

I used to ride all the time at a local state park when I was in high school.  My favorite horse was named "Bobby" ~ and ironically that is the name of my husband !!  How prophetic !!

    Enjoy !!

  3. in the lunging pic, his reins or draw reins/side reins whatever you have on him are too tight. they should be looser and flop a little bit not forcing to put his head down, but asking him too.

  4. i like it...wish i got one....but i think ill look weird riding a horse in the ghetto

  5. He looks really cute!!, his shoulders look a little heavy set, you might want to just build up the muscle there. But other then that he looks good really cute!! God i could not get a 17 hand horse i cant even get on my 15.3 mare with out jumping from the mounting block!!! I am wicked short!

have fun he is really cute!!

  6. it looks like you took care of him good

  7. Your horse seems blurrier than most horses I've seen.

How is it rude that people think he looks short?  It's not like they're insulting you when you are the one asking what they think of your horse.

And no, lots of people don't ask me what I think of your new horse.

  8. lucky u

    the horse looks athletic

  9. Wow he is truely of impressive stature. The saddle looks so tiny on him. Lovely colouring and he is very athletic isn't he.

Happy riding on your new mount :) What a fun time you'll have getting to know each other.

  10. he looks exelent! u must be very happy!

  11. Congrats on your new horse. Wow 17.1 hands is very tall, My horse is only 15.2 and i think he is huge!! LOL what is his breed? How old is he? He seems very energetic and fun!

Oh BTW:be aware of some horse people, they think that they know everything about horses when they dont, just ignore them. Just saying cause you said people were rude about his size they are obviously jealous :D

  12. I'm sorry if you find this rude but that horse is not 17.1 hands.  Measure him.  17.1 hands is 69 inches.  That is 5 feet 9 inches at the shoulder.  Which would mean that when I stood next to him, his whithers (the top of his shoulder) would be perfectly level with the top of my head.  Although some horses get that big (even riding horses) this one is not.  You can tell that by the photo of the person riding.  Unless of course that person is 7 feet tall.  By using simple comparisons we see the horse does not appear to even make the person's chin.  The average head is about 11 inches....so....

I keep trying to tell people that of all the horses I have known where people swear they have a 16 hand horse, only two actually did.  I would sort of laugh to myself as they would tell me how tall their horse was (16 hh or 16.2 hh) while I was on my big mare which dwarfed theirs (well dwarfed all but one).  Then I would tell them my mare had just been measured (she was still growing so I measured her once a month out of curiosity) and had measured out at 15.3 and 3/4 inch.  That is right that mare lacked 1/4 inch from being 16 hh.  So of course their horse was not 16 hands (except for that one that was a smidgen taller than mine and much heavier).

The only other horse I know of that tall is my stud who at 2 1/2 stood 15.2 1/2 hh.  He has continued to grow and now is over 16 hands.  Now that is one BIG fox Trotter!

OH I should clarify that when I say horse here I mean riding horse not draft horse.  I have known a lot of taller drafts and draft crosses.

BTW 5 feet 9 inches (the height you claim your horse is) is the height of an average man.
