  1. You really need to wear long boots without laces.

You will need to look as smart as possible, (jacket, shirt and stock or tie, white or light coloured gloves).Your tack can be brown or black and ideally you should use plain reins or rubbered just on the inside.

For prelim and novice, a snaffle bridle is fine.

  2. i think you have to have the dress boot kind i have seen and done a LITTLE bit of dressage and i have never seen the lace kind.

and your tack Dont have to be black i have seen john deere colors lol just black and white and browns look more professional in the dressage show ring ya know??

To the horse, stainless steel is a tasteless, cold, metal that doesn’t encourage a soft mouth or salivation. which is good for dressage

in dressage you can pretty much use any kind of bit that you are comfortable with

As snaffle bits go, there are straight ones (one single mouthpiece from one ring to the other), jointed ones (a single joint in the middle of the mouthpiece) and double-jointed ones (two joints in the mouthpiece with a flat or rounded link in the middle). Wire-mouthed, twisted or similar types of snaffles should be avoided for they can only damage any horse's mouth bars

Severeness-wise, the single-joint is the hardest, no matter how thick it is and of what material it's made of. Personally, I love to use double-jointed snaffles and straight-bar ones, possibly thick and hollow.

Novices may believe that bits are placed in horses' mouths to 'stop' and 'steer' them, which is obviously nonsense, but indeed bits are there to guide the horse into producing whatever it may be we're asking them to perform, which is asked primarily through the seat and leg aids

popualr reins are Draw reins and side reins

    hope i helped some

need any more helop feel free to ask.

    =)

  3. I think everyone pretty much covered everything for you.

Your tack does not HAVE to be black-but it is preferred. Keep that in mind-some judges, unfortunately, will hold biases against it.

I personally like brown boots, gloves, and jackets much better than the black =] It has a very traditional, vintage feel to it. The black does look sharp though. I always wear black in equitation or dressage classes, and I'll pull out my brown boots and brown or dark olive green jacket for hunter classes.

  4. Field boots - as long as they're tall boots, yes. You can also wear paddock boots in most competitions (just contact the person running the show and consult them) but you can't wear halfchaps.

Should be fine with laces :3

No, you don't have to look all fancy, you don't even have to ride a dressage saddle, but it must be english.

Any kind of english briddle to an extent. Just an all-purpose bridle works well, you can have a flash if you want just make sure it's not too tight and the caveson must be able to fit 2-3 fingers in it. The bits that AREN'T allowed are copper mouthed bits, etc, because they provide "Artificial salivation". A nice soft mild snaffle would be the best thing to have, D ring or loose ring they allow. If you're curious about one of your bits, contact the operator of your hores show and ask.

You don't use a double bridle until 4th level. At 4th level you're ALLOWED to use one, it's required at fei level (st. george, grand prix, etc.) In fact, you CAN'T use a double bridle until 4th level (or maybe it was 3rd, but i'm fairly sure it's 4th...)

Laced is fine, it really is a personal preference I use the ones that are mostly weave with the little leather straps so far up the reins. Totally can't remember off hand what they're called today.

  5. Yes, you can wear field boots in shows.

Your tack does not have to be black. It can be brown. The rules do not specify a color, but those two are the common ones.

A simple snaffle bridle is required at lower levels. You can choose from several acceptable snaffles. Using a double bridle is not allowed until Third Level, and is optional at Third and Fourth level.

Rein style is a personal preference. Laced reins are fine if that is what you like. They give a pretty good grip. Some folks like padded reins for a little more elastic feeling. When you get into a double bridle, most people used laced reins for the snaffle and smooth reins for the curb so as to differentiate them by feel.

Chapters 120 and 121 in the rule book cover dress and saddlery.

    Good luck.

  6. I'm in the UK but no you cant use lace up boots, you have to have long boots.

leather if competing at the higher levels, rubber if competing at the novice levels.

Tack should be black and a dressage saddle in the novice levels can be use d,but for other levels it should be a dressage saddle.

in novice level a plain snaffle is sufficient.

laced reins are fine i prefer the plain reins ,because they are easier to use and as your wearing gloves its fine
