Her mom says she plays with the hair in the brush, her dads arm hair or the carpet. Her mom shaved her hair last year and she quite for about a year. It has started up again, chunks rolled up in a ball on the floor every morning. Please help.

  1. Id say something isnt right about that. It may just be her "comfy" zone though...is there any other signs?

  2. Its definitely something she needs to address with her daughter's pediatrician.  She could have a form of OCD or something similar.

  3. yes its called Trichotillomania.  I was around 14 when mine started and have had it to varying degrees ever since.  As an adult I am able to cope with it and control it to a point.    Medicene never helped my condition.  I would have her mother take her to a counselor.

  4. could be extreme nervousness, a personality disorder, or one of the rare forms of epilepsy, like

    psycho motor epilepsy or seizure.

  5. I had a friend in middle/high school that had this problem.  It was a disorder but I don't recall the name.  Some years she would have very long and thick hair and some years she would be almost bald due to it.  Tell your friend she needs to talk to her pediatrician about it.  Hopefully by now they have something to help children with this.

  6. Well, I don't know about her personal situation.  But there is a disorder that is a form of obsessive compulsive disorder where the sufferer obsessively pulls out their own hair.  It's called Trichotillomania.
