We went to lunch with our friends. Waitress brought cool coffee no cream. Then when we asked for cream she said sure, but didnt bring it. After a wait, my friend went to the counter and got some from another employee. Our waitress brought cream about 15 min later.

We wanted more coffee. Another waitress refilled cups at other tables, but not ours. She said "not my table.. I will tell your waitress to bring some." Never got it. My friend finally went behind counter and got the pot and poured coffee for all of us.

When our meal came my friend pointed out to our waitress that we were supposed to get cole slaw. Waitress said then that they were out of it. Did not offer small tossed salads or cottage cheese in place of it.

She did not ask if we wanted any dessert. I would have liked dessert. She just brought our bill and said "Whenever you're ready..." & went away. Not even offer of more coffee.

We tipped 10% because service was not good. What would you give her?

  1. I wonder if this restaurant was busy.  You did say though that the other servers had time to refill coffee cups.  I definitely would have asked to speak to the manager.  This server knows she screwed up, because she tried to rush you out of the restaurant without offering dessert, or even more cold coffee!  It is not too late to call and inform the manager.  They don't want their business to lose customers and suffer.  Call and let them know exactly what went on and  how disappointed you were.  I would even mention how the other server refused you coffee, because it was not her table.  I hate that c**p.  As a server I have had to deal with other servers who did not want you helping 'their' tables even when the customer asked.  This is bull$hit, because you are all there to make sure paying customers come back.  It should be a combined effort.

As for tipping this incompetent waitress- she would have received two cents out of my pocket.  That is the universal tip for bad service.  That sounds like what she deserved.

  2. I wouldn't have tipped.

  3. I would have given her $.15  Yes that is 15 cents.....there is no guarantee to getting a tip and giving her/him 15 cents let's him/her know I didn't forget the tip.  No matter how busy she is there are some things she could have done but didn't.  If the service was that bad, she didn't even deserve 10%.

  4. I would not have tipped her at all-it sounds like she was busy being busy,in other words running around to look busy. Some people just don't make good wait staff and we as customers need to let them know it.

  5. With service that bad I wouldn't have left any tip at all.  I mean that was ridiculous.  You should've given your tip to the person who got up and got more cream and coffee.

  6. a big fat zero with an explanation as to why.

  7. I would have talked to the manager.  Your paying for a service and didn't get it.   The manager would want to know if you were not happy, so they could fix the problem.   I would call the place and talk to the manager and tell them what you experienced.
