  1. wind and water

  2. Tsunamis are commonly called "tidal waves". However, tsunamis are caused (usually) by earthquakes far out in the ocean. Tsunamis are giant waves that crush cities and cause devastation. "Tidal waves" are caused by the ebb and flow on the tides, and tend to be small and ineffectual. Wind might slightly affect tsunamis, but the main factor is seismic activity.

  3. the moon also plays a part, but not in tsunamis, i think by tidal waves you mean the normal high and low tides that cycle every day.

tsunamis occur under special conditions.  the most common i believe is underwater earthquakes.  however, large landslides can cause enormous tsunamis.  there is an island off the coast of western africa i think or southern europe, that is a dormant volcano.  have the island is sliding into the ocean, it is believe that if the volcano erupted again, the island would fall apart and it would fall into the ocean creating a huge tsunami, big enough to destroy the eastern coast of the united states, i don't remember how far in it is supposed to go, but i'm pretty sure florida would be destroyed, the major eastern cities would be destroyed, NYC, boston, atlanta, DC...

the most wind can do is create the swells created by hurricanes, wind probably won't blow much harder than it does during a hurricane, and those waves can only get up to like 30 or 50 feet i think, and those i believe are the biggest swells

  4. aye, because they are predominatly underwater untill the very shallows (why they are hard to see comming, unlike tidal waves) they are no really effected by the wind at all. it would be like huff puff puffing at your sails in a 20 knot riptide and expecting it to change the direction of your boat!

  5. No, they are caused by earth quakes under the ocean, and are usually too big to be affected by mere wind.
