I know the speakers work but I can't hear the video? What should I do about it?

Try restarting your computer. Different types of media use different services to play music, so it's possible that certain types of media (mp3s, for example) will play, while a Youtube video will not play.

If that doesn't work, then try adjusting the different volumes using your Master Volume screen which can be found in the control panel.

Usually you dont hear the video anyway, you see it and hear the sound thats in the video.

Might be something as simple as taking your speakers off mute. To do this [or to check it] click on the speaker icon at the right side of your task bar. If that doesn't show a problem you could do a more thorough check by right clicking on it and then click on "open mixer" to see if any of the sound sources are muted.

If the above doesn't work, you may need to reinstall the program you are using or reinstall the audio driver on your computer. This could get a bit more involved. Click on the start button and then go to control panel. Not knowing what operating system you have I would say to next double-click on sound. If you don't see that then click on classic view and then double-click on sound. Select speakers and click on properties. Click on properties again in the next window.

The next window should indicate whether the device is working correctly or not. Whether it is or not, you can still try updating the driver.

You can click on the driver tab to view info about the driver but to change, reinstall or update the driver you would click on change settings and then click continue in the next window. Then click the driver tab where you can select update drive.  If this causes a problem, you can repeat the process to rollback the driver.

PLEASE NOTE:  These steps are for Windows Vista Ultimate - there may be some differences to these steps depending on your operating system.  I had to reinstall drivers on one of my pcs to get the sound to work a few times.
