  1. The oldest country with the same name is China.

  2. According to tradition, San Marino is known as the world's oldest republic. The tiny republic was founded by a Christian stonemason named Marino (or Saint Marinus) on September 3, in the year 301 C.E.

    I would also say India,China, and Greece/Italy

  3. I am laying my bet on EGYPT.

  4. 221 BC - China is the oldest

28 June 2006 Montenegro is the youngest

Kosovo is an illegal country, not recognised by UN.

"Kosovo, which unilaterally declared independence from Serbia on 17 February 2008, is not expected to be admitted to the UN in the near future due to Russia's and China's resistance to recognize Kosovo, as admission to the UN requires approval from the Security Council, and Russia and China, being two of the five permanent members of the Security Council, have veto power."

  5. the oldest country that is still going by the same name as when it was founded is: CHINA. It was unified under that name in about 225 B.C.E.

San Marino, the third smallest state in Europe is the oldest constitutional republic in the world. It was founded in 301 AD by a Stonemason called Marinus who was escaping from persecution due to his Christian beliefs. It is only 61 sqkm and has its own stamps and minted coins (although uses the euro) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Marino

If you define "country" as based on a continuous form of government, rather than borders then San Marino is the oldest.  http://www.answers.com/topic/list-of-con...
