I know there are LCD, DLP, and Plasma tv's available, but what different types of TV's are going to soon be

available? I have heard Laser, etc. I am wanting a TV but wanting to get something worth while that will last. What do you recommend? And what new types are coming out. thanks.

  1. The super high definition sets being developed are nowhere near prime time for consumer use, they are ridiculously expensive, and pointless since many broadcasters don't even broadcast in HD fully yet. So don't worry about the "next best thing" because that won't be for at least another decade.

    The major ones right now are LCD, Plasma, and Projection. And those depend on what you plan on doing with the TV, how much room you have, how much money you have, and the lighting situation. Google and you'll find plenty of guides to help you pick the right options for you.


  2. They are all just different methods of delivering a image to a screen. I wouldn't wait on Laser.

    Like anything, being the first on your block to have the latest and greatest comes at a price.

    I paid about 850.00 for a 40" LCD HDTV six months ago and saw a 42" in 1080i for less, just the other day. A friend got his HDTV three years ago and paid about 2500.00. The same TV now is less than 1500.00
