Should I make up an excuse or tell my boss that I just don;t want to drive in the snow. My commute is already around an hour and I'd rather just not deal with driving through the blizzard. I have 20 days PTO to use but he usually wants advance notice.

  1. Is public transportation available, where you have to get up earlier to catch it?

It is nice that you have advance scheduling of snow storm, and not wake up to find it happened overnite.

Is the pay rate such that it makes sense to check into a motel near where you work, and get a taxi from there to the office ... so you paying for the motel and the taxi vs. what your pay for a day comes out to.

  2. Just tell him the truth, it will be better in the long run.

  3. Even if you are late is better than not showing up at all.  DEAL WITH IT.

  4. Dont lie about it, it only makes things worse...

  5. They will not like it,but tell the truth.

  6. Sure, you can tell your boss anything you want.  He can also tell you to start looking for another job.  A little bit of snow is no excuse for missing work. I'll bet that everyone else at your workplace (Including the boss!) will be dealing with the same weather conditions and are able to make it in to work just fine.
