The UN have said that Britain needs to think about giving up the Monarchy. I personally think it would be a shame to give up this historical tradition which is essential to British life!

We tried a republic before, that didn't really work.

  1. 1. They are not essential to British Life - Are you thicker than Thick?

    2. Since when did we try Republic??

Does someone want to give me a spade so  i can bury this guy!!

  2. The Monarchy should end with Queen Elizabeth. No more Aristocratic institutions. It reeks of upper-class snobbery, who can't help themselves but look down their hypocritical noses' at the rest of us!

Yes the Queen seems like a nice old lady, but Charles, Camilla and the rest of the gang....c'mon?

How they survived what happened to princess Diana i will never know!

  3. I like the commonwealth money with the queen in it.

After her, I think you might do fine without a monarch.

But whatever works for those countries with royal families...I must admit I like reading about all those princes and princesses in the rags.

  4. For what the Monarchy costs (62 pence a year for every adult), I just can't see the point of 'getting rid of them', especially when you consider the amount of revenue they generate through such as tourism. Plus they are a great asset in promoting everything British throughout the World.

That sounds a bit harsh, but I am I suppose a Royalist.

  5. well being a traditional bunch i dont really seem they going anywhere i mean i no they dont do nothing but some of these brits love the women god knows why

  6. I do not think it is true that they serve no purpose.  The Queen serves an important role as head of state.  her role may be mainly ceremonial now, but she works very hard.  Without her, we'd just have to have a boring old president, very dull.

  7. Stamps & currency just wouldn't be the same!!!!

  8. I know - and imagine trusting the government with no Queen as a back-up, we'd all be sold into slavery within weeks I reckon!

This has really rung alarm bells to me!

  9. Why do you say the Queen serves no purpose?

A constitutional monarchy is more relevant now than ever. Its virtue lies in keeping the ultimate authority out of the hands of politicians - it keeps power neutral. Without a monarchy, we would end up with a president. I shudder at the thought of a president as bad as Bush (idiot) or Clinton (affair and lied about it) or Chirac (corrupt) or Mitterand (corrupt and string of mistreses) or Sarkozy (dumps his wife to marry someone who is a younger version of his wife) or Berlusconi (corrupt). President Blair? No thank you.

If you think this is all academic, remember what happened to Norway during World War II. The government was ordered by the n***s to order the people to support the n***s. The government did so, but the King, to whom the people owed ultimate allegiance, refused. Had Norway been a republic, it would have caved in.

Or look at Thailand. The king has real power. He has ordered that the drugs trade must stop. Why? Because the politicians would not stop the drugs trade because they profited from it.

These are just two examples of how monarchy is absolutely relevant today. It's not decoration, it's fundamental to sustaining democracy.

  10. The Queen has final rights to a lot of land.  I would bet that the U.N. would like to assume much of her control for the greater good of the greater number.

  11. I think it'd be a great shame. I seriously hope the UN don't get their way, because I'm certainly proud of still having a monarchy.

  12. yeah i agree with you...

    its a tradition!

  13. tradition?! lmao... what happened to the very ancient tradition of our leaders being the BIGGEST, STRONGEST ruling our tribes?  It fazed out, just like its time for these to fade away.

    Free Wales, Abolish Royalty!!!

  14. Royal families are nice. They represents culture and history. Even though they don't have power, then I still think it's unique because it's so rare now.

  15. yes but when her majesty dies.....anyone you want to take the throne?
