I know this may sound silly but how do I go about taking a German bus from my town to a bigger town? The cost?

Do they have rules about strollers? I have never used the public transit system since being in Germany for about two yrs (I have always drove or walked where I needed). Please can someone give me a little insight so that I don't go blindly and end up somewhere/place lost w/ my kids.
