I started eating a lot of raw fruits and vegetables. When I ate meat, it was always brown. Now it's ranges in many colors from green to purple. I'm sure it is fine but it seems weird to me.

  1. Yes, but i attribute it to eating a diet consisting only of skittles, and now I'm shiatttting rainbows!!!

  2. that's really gross but it's probably nothing

  3. First of all, E had better watch how he's talking to my friend!!

Also, I found this while poking around. It might help... doesn't say anything about purple though! :oþ

  4. Yes, it's normal. The brown color is due to the breakdown products of the liver pigment bilirubin. Some plants have pigments strong enough to mask the bilirubin, so you get purple, green, and other colors. If you eat something that is weakly pigmented, like meat or pasta, it takes on a brown color.

  5. Well, naturally, if you're eating more greens or purples, then your poo will be that way too...

It's natural, nothing to worry about!

  6. no never had that experience

  7. The brown color comes from bile. Our livers produce bile to break down fats in our diet. It's needed more in a carnivorous diet then in a vegetarian one.

Our bodies can't break down fiber so it passes through along with its natural color. This was true when you ate meat, but the extra bile, needed for breaking down fat, did a better job of painting everything brown.
