This has to do with my genealogy as I'm trying to find out the ancestry of my paternal grandmother. These kids were related to her. Any certainty in your answers might lead me in the right direction. Thanks!

  1. They could be Native American, or Eastern European

  2. They look african american mixed with japanees with myan and viking heritige.

  3. um ok well suertainly european perhaps lithuan I hope I got you on the right track.

  4. I would agree, Eastern European. You can also go to Ellisisland.org and do some research, if you know your grandmother's maiden name. Even if she did not come through Ellis Island, you may get some insight on the origin of her name based on where people with similar names came from.

  5. German or Eastern European.  Actually, Latvia springs to mind.  Don't know why -- it just did.  :-)

The donkey probably leads you to believe it's somewhere in Latin America, but there are such animals in Europe.

  6. I was thinking polish...

  7. Bolivian

  8. I'd say Southern Europeans. Covering anything from Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and some Balkan countries.

  9. The look Italian to me :)

  10. My nephew looks like the older boy on the donkey.  He is of Eastern European, jewish mixed with japanese ancestory.

  11. I agree with the others who said Italy or southern europe. The cap the boy is wearing just says italian to me. The children got dark hair and what appears to be an olive skin tone, but it's hard to tell because the picture is faded. They appear to have deep set eyes, with dominent eyebrows. The one thing I did notice about their clothing is that the two on the donkey are wearing lightweight jackets, which means it was a bit cold where ever the picture was taken. What we don't know about the picture though, is wether the location where the picture was taken is acually the place of the children's origins or not, if it is, then their clothes, the background, and the donkey, become more important clues, if it isn't, then those factors hold less weight.

  12. polish

  13. The donkey makes me think of South America - maybe Columbia.  The checks on the girl's dress look German style though.

  14. Dissident.. why don't you post the name and details of said grandmother, and we'll see if we can't dig up some records for you??

  15. Eastern European.  Maybe Hungarian
