I know this will sound stupid, but a new Shakespeare rod & reel, how do I find the end of the line?

I can see one end of the line on the outside of the reel, but wasn't clear which end of the line that is. Thanks for the help!

spin-cast reel : least visible most line inside

the line you tie the hook on is in the reel end hole. thread this through the eyes of the rod.

bait cast reel :

thread the line through the eye or metal loop in front of the line spool.then through the pole eyes.

spinning reel: open the wire bail and thread the line through the pole eyes then close the wire bail.

if its a fly line ,the reel end usually has a sticker on it ,but if it dosnt you should tie on to the end that you see on the outside.
