I know what ELPTO for boat motors stands for, but what does it mean? Is it 2 stroke?

  1. Since the "O" stands for oil injected, it is a 2 stroke.


  2. The term "ELPTO" was coined by Mercury (might be copyrighted, I don't know) but it means "Electric Start, Power Trim, Oil Injected." That would be a two-cycle engine. In the four-cycle engines, they would refer to it as "ELPT."
