  1. I'm Italian.

The most population has brown eyes. There are people with  black eyes and people with blue or green or grey eyes, but the most popular colour is brown.

    I'm sorry for mistakes.

  2. I'm italian and I have dark eyes but I'm the only one with dark eyes among the people I know. All of my friends have very lite brown yes or green eyes, I also know a lot of people with blu eyes. Dark eyes here aren't as common as everybody thinks. Italian people tend to have green or very lite brown eyes, those are the most common ones. Bye bye!

  3. Ciao, I'm italian and your question is really silly coz italian are very normal people so we have a dark, brown, blue and green eyes..like american people!

  4. I'm italian, and i have brown eyes and brown hair.

But not all the people in italy are the same, there are blondes with blue eyes like the other countries!

    W ITALIA

  5. I'm Italian:

I think most people have dark eyes but you have to distinguish t2 areas in Italy.

In southern Italy people have usually brown or black eyes and the percetage of people with light eyes is about 10%. Hair is generally brown or black. Who has light eyes has usually green eyes then blu eyes.

In Northern Italy light colours are much more common, expecially in the north-east of Italy. Here I think that blue eyed people are 40-50%... In northern italy most people have light brown hair and about 20% have blond hair (even 50% in the Alps).

I, for example, have brown eyes but blonde hair and live in NW Italy...

  6. 50% dark, 50% light.  Northern Italy is a lighter people with lighter colored hair and eyes.

  7. As someone said below it is true that a lot of people from the north have light hair and eyes, however way down south in Sicily there is a very, very large proportion of people with blue eyes. I lived there, and was actually shocked by the number of light eye people there are.

  8. I’ve tried to get you a public source for the colour of eyes (it exists, but is held by the Italian Ministry of Interior – data source: passport declarations). To no avail. So I’m giving you a site (alas in Italian) where you have a lovely map of Europe on eye colours.

Summing up Italians generally have brown eyes, but the more North you go, the lighter they get. In North Italy there is a 50/50 chance of seeing green, grey and blue eyes. In the Alpine and Venetian Regions the average is Green-Blue. Look at the map and you’ll see the dividing line is where ancient Greek and to a certain extent North African (Sicily)  settlers used to live.

If you're generally interested in eye colour, there is a recent theory that "blue" (and all related combinations) developed by chance, not many millenia ago and that all mankind was previously "hazel/brown" eyed.

There's also an interesting article on eye colour inheritence that I'm quoting you.

  9. LOL!! that's like asking what's the general color of american eyes!! I'm in Italy but am from north america and you can't generalize it in any way. there are people from all around europe here... north italy is more prone to light hair and eyes and south to dark hair and eyes but people are constantly moving here and there so you just can't say...
